Realistic proportions
A downloadable mod
In the Doom Bible, Tom Hall implies that Wolfenstein (and thus, presumably, Doom) has a scale of 16 units to 1 real-world foot. Doomguy, whose height is 56 units, is thus three and a half feet tall.
This small mod corrects that egregious error, enlarging Doomguy to a more appropriate six feet (96 units).
Note that, due to bugs in the original games, this will render Doomguy unable to enter a great number of hallways. Consider binding a key to crouch.

Install instructions
Requires GZDoom, or ZDoom, or some other fork or whatever. The effect is very simple, so even ancient versions will probably work.
Drag realprop.pk3
onto (G)ZDoom, or pass it on the command line with -file realprop.pk3
.

This bug really has been around too long, it's inexcusable
